The Philippines is not a Third World Country

Dear World,

How are your worldly schemes? Listen, I have something to tell you about my little country.

According to Wikipedia, Third World is a categorical label used to describe states [or nations] that are considered to be underdeveloped in terms of their economy or level of industrialization, globalization, standard of living, health, education or other criteria for 'advancements'.

The Philippines is past that. If you in doubt, try to visit our country. You say we are poor, but when you go to our malls you will see people shopping here and there. Try to look at our beaches and see how beautiful they are with lots of tourists basking under the tropical sun. See, we do not have the recession here. Other countries are so paranoid about the recession. However, here in the Philippines we are not affected by it. No, not at all.

We might be experiencing economic and political issues but these are because of the bastards who conquered us in the past. The Spaniards colonized us not for spreading their religion (as what they claim) but to spread their poisonous venoms of indolence, greed, bahala na system, crab mentality and so many ridiculous traits. And of course to steal our gold and other natural resources. The Americans rescued us but with underlying purpose to colonize as well. It might have been better if they indeed colonized us and made us a state, but that will also defeat the purpose of being the Philippines that we are now. Lastly, the fuckin Japanese that stole our remaining treasures and brutally abused our countrymen.

Now, it's time to show them who we really are. We will show them that the Filipino people is not a race to look down upon. And the Philippines is not a country to underestimate. Thus, I will start this blog and update it heartily. I will keep track of what happens to the Philippines, be it good or bad. It might not be that early to start this blog, but I believe it's never too late if you want change.

So World, down here I will show you my opinions, outcry and visions of my beloved Pearl of the Orient Seas. Again, the Philippines is not a third world country. Maybe not as what you think it is.

Prayer:

Almighty Father, thank you for giving us our beloved country - the Philippines. My prayer is that you will enlighten each Filipino so that we will all see the beauty that you've bestowed upon our country. And open also the eyes of the world that they will see us not as just a Third World Country but a country that is making a great contribution to the world. In Jesus name, Amen.
